Donnie, our in house AI agent: what he does, and what happens to your words

Donnie is our in house AI agent, a chatbot on our website. He answers questions about business finance, using only our own website, and helps you apply. He is an AI, not a person, and he never needs your card or bank details.

Our team are finance brokers in Scotland, working across the whole UK. This page explains Donnie, our in house AI agent, in plain words.

What is Donnie?

Donnie, our in house AI agent, is a computer program, not a person. He tells you he is an AI at the start of every chat.

Our firm is on the FCA register. Our number is 1058283.

He is powered by Claude, an AI made by a company called Anthropic. The first message in the chat names the Claude model that is answering you.

What does Donnie do?

Donnie answers questions about business finance. He only uses facts from our own website, and he can point you to the right page.

He does not search Google or any other search engine. If the answer is not on our website, he does not guess. He offers our team instead.

He never gives advice, a rate, a payment or a decision. We do not give advice either. The lender makes the decision. If they say yes, our team gives you the figures they approved, so you can choose whether to go ahead.

How does Donnie help me apply?

Donnie asks a few short questions: what you need, roughly how much, and about your business. Then he shows you a summary.

You decide what happens next. Donnie never sends anything until you press the button to carry on.

Our team then gets your details, so we know what you need. Donnie can also book you a call-back.

Want a person? Press Talk to a person. If nobody can answer within 2 minutes, a call-back is booked for you.

What happens to documents I upload?

Documents you upload go straight from the website to our team by email. Donnie does not read them, and the website does not store them.

You can send up to 12 files with an application. If our team asks for a document in a live chat, it is emailed to them the same way.

What happens to the words I type?

Anthropic's computers in the United States read your words to write Donnie's reply. Before that, we take out email addresses, phone numbers, and card and account numbers.

Your name, email and phone number are asked for on the application form. The details you give on the form are never sent to the AI.

Anthropic's commercial terms (its rules for businesses like ours) say your words are not used to train its AI. Anthropic deletes them within 30 days. It keeps them longer only if the law needs it, or to stop misuse.

What does Donnie keep?

We keep the questions people ask Donnie for 90 days. Emails, phone numbers and card and account numbers are taken out first. So is a name typed in the usual way, like "my name is". Our team reads the questions to see what people ask, and to make these pages better. After 90 days they are deleted.

Only the summary you choose to send reaches our team with your name on it. We also keep a daily count of chats and what they cost, with no words in it.

Your chat stays in your own browser while the tab is open. Donnie may ask to keep it on your device for 30 days. Only a yes does that, and Forget it removes it.

If you chat with a person on our team, the chat is emailed to our directors. It is also noted on your enquiry, so we can help you.

Can my own AI assistant apply for me?

Yes. Your own AI assistant can ask Donnie questions for you. It can also send us an application, which we hold for up to seven days. We email you one button to confirm it is yours.

Nothing goes to our team until you press it. If you do not, the details are deleted. Read more on our page for AI assistants.
